Assisted Pull-Up

Practice the full pulling path with only as much assistance as needed for control.

What it develops

  • Full-range pulling pattern
  • Upper-back strength

How to perform it

  1. Use foot support or a band that permits smooth movement.
  2. Start from an active hang and pull with a controlled trunk.
  3. Lower to straight elbows without dropping.

Common mistakes

  • Excessive assistance
  • Kicking or swinging
  • Cutting range short

Suggested readiness

  • Complete controlled repetitions.
  • Reduce assistance without losing position.

These suggestions are not a test or verification of ability.

Scale it back

  • Higher foot support
  • Heavier assistance band
  • Active hangs

Training cautions

  • Anchor bands securely and keep your face out of the recoil path.
